Seitenwechsel

Seitenwechsel is a sports club run by women for women and girls. Seitenwechsel aims to help women and girls gain varied athletic experience, without respect to skin colour, nationality, physical condition, age or sexual orientation. Seitenwechsel was founded in 1988 because women expressed an interest in doing sports with other women. Today we offer women and girls a broad range of options through which to realise their own notions of physical exercise and sports.

Seitwechsel offers diverse athletic groups in a wide variety of sports, often divided into different ability/skill levels. The focus has always been not on achievement but on having fun; in any case it is to provide encouragement to achieve one’s personal best!

Seitenwechsel has roughly five hundred active members and more than twenty coaches. It is thus the largest of all women’s and/or lesbian sports clubs in Europe! Seitenwechsel is active in Berlin and beyond the city limits in national and international organisations to promote the rights of women/lesbians in sports and to fight discrimination.
