DOWN TO FOUR, SEEKING MORE!

February 23rd, 2012

An amazing response to our call for players this past few days has seen us zoom past the five team mark with FOUR MORE days to equal our 2011 record of six teams. We think we can do it, in fact we know we can, but we need your help.

Please give all your maybe mates and former team-mates a friendly nudge to remind them there’s just four days left until our major rego cut-off. We’d love to field six teams but need that last-minute burst to get us over the finish line.

Spread the message – forward, share, retweet, even chain letters will do! Help the Bats get SIX IN THE MIX!

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN: only FIVE places left

February 22nd, 2012

Like those Christmas kilos and the end of summer, soccer season has managed to sneak up on us and it’s fast approaching decision day for the club on how many teams we’ll field this season.

There’s only FIVE PLACES LEFT before we’ll have five full teams (at this stage four All-Age and one Over 35s) and will start a waiting list so if you’ve been meaning to register but have put it off until now, tarry no longer.

Once the lucky last five spots are gone it’ll be a race to see if we can get enough players for a sixth team by Sunday, so spread the word and encourage those mates dragging their feet to get amongst it!

Rego is now a streamlined one-stop process with the option to pay by credit card – simple! Make like the proverb and do not…um delay until tomorrow what you can do today? Or something.

If you have any concerns or questions, particularly regarding waiting lists, Over 35s or or any issues with rego and payments, please shoot an email ASAP to Alicia (president@theflyingbats.com) Bevalee (registrar@theflyingbats.com) or Amy (pr@theflyingbats.com)

Are you over 35?

February 20th, 2012

Our association (NWSWF) is considering a second over 35s division in 2012.

The competition level of an Over 35s Division 2 would be similar to All Age Division 7-8, with Division 1 remaining at a higher standard.

If you have previously considered over 35s, but were apprehensive about the level of skill/competition, this might be for you!

Email us now if you’re considering over 35s so we can see if we can field a team in both divisions! (And keep in mind, you won’t be bound by your decision if the second division does not go ahead)

If you’re over 30, but this sounds appealing to you, get in touch also. We can’t guarantee a place for you, but the association will allow 3 players between 30 and 35 in each team.

Meet Zoe: our new Bats coach

February 8th, 2012

Before pre-season training starts tonight, let’s meet your pre-season trainer and the Bats’ newest coach – Zoe!

Zoe is a graduate of ACPE’s coaching program and we’re thrilled to have her on board with the Bats in 2012. She will be whipping our butts back into shape during pre-season training from tonight (7pm at Tempe Reserve) so don’t miss it!

zoe 272x300 Meet Zoe: our new Bats coachDescribe yourself in one sentence:

Sport is at the heart of my life and I’m most often called the caring, understanding but efficient coach

What do you love about coaching?

Developing an athlete to reach a short or long-term goal, no matter their current ability. And the ever-changing environment of sport – that innovative concepts are constantly challenging old coaching ways

How/why did you get into coaching?

I came back from overseas when I was 19 and was trying to discover my professional life. Sport has always been part of my life and I naturally fell into it. Since then I have completed my fitness certificate, my S&C level 2 and a degree in sports coaching and administration. And I still can’t wait to learn more about coaching and sport development

In your spare time you like to:

Relax, bake, shop, go for a run or a surf

If you had a super-power, what would it be?

I’d be able to teleport. Stuff traffic or flying overseas – I’d be there with a click of my fingers!

What are you looking forward to most about this season?

Meeting all of the Bats and the challenge of getting my team to their goal
