Use of Flying Bats Yahoo! Email Group
Background
Our Yahoo group now has almost 200 members. It is our primary means of communication both from the committee to
club members and between members. All club announcements are sent out via this mailing list.
Members of the group expect the club to protect them from spam and unnecessary email. High levels of traffic are annoying
and lead members to unsubscribe from the group.
That said, the committee would like to encourage people to get involved and use the mailing list to get in touch with other
players. It is not our intention to discourage people from posting.
All messages ARE available publicly on the internet via the yahoo groups website. Therefore anything potentially damaging
to the club should not be posted.
This policy is an attempt to set out acceptable and unacceptable uses of the email group. Naturally it is open to interpretation,
so in cases of dispute the club committee will make the final decision.
All messages to the group are moderated to ensure the above principles are adhered to.
Acceptable Use
Acceptable use of the e-group covers the following:
- Club information - training & matches, social events or other announcements from the committee.
- Social events - club members wishing to organise / invite people to social events.
- Looking for a lift to training/matches etc.
- Soccer-related information - e.g. letting everyone know that there's a women's match on etc.
- Limited 'classifieds' - e.g. looking for a house/housemate etc (within reason).
Unacceptable Use
Unacceptable use is most things not covered by the above. Some forms of unacceptable use include:
- 'Reply All' posts along the lines of: "Hi, I'd love to come to the pub, see you there...". This kind of thing is best addressed to the sender only.
- Questions such as "where is training?", "where are the games?". This should be addressed to
info@theflyingbats.com in the first instance.
- Grievances / complaints / issues or suggestions about the running of the club. This should be directed to the committee; either via
info@theflyingbats.com or to the president directly. The committee takes ALL feedback
seriously and will address any issue that is raised. Important outcomes will be communicated to the whole club via the newsletter.
- Anything potentially damaging to the ongoing success and reputation of the club.
If you are not sure about a post please contact the webmistress to discuss.
The webmistress will serve as the first line of decision making in relation to the above. If their decision is not to a member's
liking then either the president or committee can adjudicate.
