gender & sex diversity policy

The Flying Bats is committed to creating and maintaining a safe, fair, and inclusive sporting environment for everybody, no matter your gender identity or expression.

We know that the topic of trans women in sport has been used as a political football in recent years, which makes our support for this part of our community even more urgent and important.

While we are primarily a women’s club, we recognise that gender is not binary, and not all people who are part of our club are, or identify as, cisgender women.

Research shows that trans, gender diverse, non-binary, and intersex people face significant barriers when accessing and participating in sport, and that when they do participate, they frequently face discrimination and harassment.

A core part of our mission as a club is to challenge these wider cultural attitudes, to actively call out transphobic, homophobic and biphobic abuse when and where it happens on and off the field, and to make football a safe and accessible space for everyone.
